Waggy Tails are the best kennels we have ever been lucky enough to find. This is a gem in the heart of Devon and the service is second to none.
We found Waggy Tails on the internet and it looked fantastic. We booked our Wire-Haired German Pointer in for a few days and Rachel and Sue were so good with our continual calls to check on the dog (there were many! ) – they completely alleviated our apprehension about how our pet was going to be looked after. The very fact that Rachel and Sue took the time to discuss all our dogs needs was so refreshing it made us feel very relaxed. Our lovely dog met us on our return looking so happy, healthy and content (he had also made friends for life with Rachel and Sue).
Later on in 2012 my husband had a serious medical emergency in another county and when I called Rachael and Sue they did everything and more to help me with looking after Kirby. They looked after Kirby during a really traumatic time brilliantly and took a lot of stress away from our situation. During my husband’s recovery we bought a beautiful Wire –Haired Hungarian Viszla to be a companion for our pointer. When he was introduced to Rachel and Sue he was so relaxed and happy to meet them it was as if they were part of the family.
Both dogs have been in the kennels now countless times over the past two and half years and they are so happy to arrive (running up to Rachel and Sue to greet them) and not so happy to leave sometimes. My husband has joked with Rachel sometimes as to who actually owns the dogs!
If you are looking for a kennel for your dog we cannot recommend Waggy Tails enough. We are telling all our friends about it and some of them live in Plymouth! This is absolute 5 star service and if we were given a choice of 100 kennels we would always pick Waggy Tails.
We have the honour of ‘owning’ a lively cockerpoo puppy called Brian. When he was only two and a half months old we needed to find a sympathetic kennel for him to go to. Having known Rachel and Sue for a long time, and experienced the fantastic rapport they have with all the animals in their care, the choice was simple. Brian had to go and visit Waggy Tails.
Leaving him there was not the angst-ridden experience it could have been as Rachel and Sue made sure he was made really at home. When we arrived to pick him up after his stay it was obvious that he had been having a whale of a time and made many, many friends. To have such a wonderful, caring kennels right on our doorstep is an incredible stroke of luck and we are extremely grateful to Sue and to Rachel for taking care of Brian ….. and for forgiving him the odd nip or attack on the washing line!
Thank you. JL
Waggy Tails were recommended by a friend. My 2 Labradors had 4 days and nights there over Christmas 2013. They had a wonderful time. I have put them in other kennels before but they have not enjoyed themselves as much as when at Waggy Tails. Sue and Rachel were very friendly and my boys certainly had waggy tails after their stay. I will definitely use them again.
We discovered Rachel and Sue several years ago before the kennels were even built and both our dogs loved going there and rather made their house their second home. The initial introduction to then being housed in the bright new kennels didn’t go down too well with the older dog at first but soon it became a second home to them both again. We know that both dogs will get first class treatment and care as well as being loved by both Sue and Rachel.
The kennels are immaculate with music playing to make dogs feel at home, comfy beds and all their toys. What more could a pampered dog want? Barnie, the older one, simply wants to plod around the farm and is allowed to do so. Montie, the youngster, prefers to chase across the fields whilst Rachel or Sue throw his frisbee for him. Barnie at times tends to be fussy with eating. This causes no problem as both Sue and Rachel will stay with him and feed him by hand if that is what it takes. Waggy Tails is a home from home for all dogs, young and old, pampered and spoilt and I can’t recommend it highly enough.
Our collie-cross, Cassie, has stayed at Waggy Tails in the past and is visibly thrilled whenever she thinks she is going back there. She is always greeted by name by Sue and Rachel who have a transparent love and affection for all the canines in their care.
On this particular visit Cassie was not booked to stay but to have a well-overdue bath and groom. I left her in Rachel’s capable hands and within an hour she reappeared looking fit for Crufts! Poor Rachel was probably suffering from fur balls with all the hair that came adrift and we left her clearing up mountains of the stuff. The transformation only cost £10 which in my opinion was extremely good value. We will be back to inflict ourselves on Rachel and Sue again!
“As a breeder of Golden Retrievers, I was always cautious about leaving my dogs and usually had to get someone in to look after them which wasn’t always successful, then, chatting to Rachel one day she said she would look after them in her home – ideal, and hence Rachel and Sue have been looking after my Golden Retrievers (and not to forget Buddy the terrier) for some years now. The new kennels are fantastic, state of the art, modern and hygenic and I have never known another boarding kennel to offer such a great service, from collection and delivery of your pet if required, to the amount of fuss and attention they receive during their stay.
We recently went away for the Easter weekend, and descended on Waggy Tails with our 3 Goldies and the Terrier. As soon as the dogs realised where they were they went mad, so happy to see Rachel and Sue again (makes you feel quite un-loved sometimes!)
Its wonderful to know you can happily go away, and your pet will be looked after to such a high degree at all times, nothing is too much trouble for Rachel and Sue, and Rachel even managed to fit in a bath and trim for all 4 dogs!
I would highly recommend Waggy Tails Boarding Kennels without hesitation, my dogs certainly love going there and I will be sending my dogs there for years to come.
5*+ from all at Venexia Golden Retrievers. Keep up the good work.”
“We have used Rachel Retter to look after our dogs for many years. Both of our dogs have launched themselves all over her from the minute they see her.. their delight at seeing her is testament to how she treats the dogs in her care – the only downside being that they have never been that pleased to come home! We drive off on holiday and never give our dog Mouse a second thought. With the new kennels now open the facilities are even better and Mouse will be looking forward to her next stay. The best test of leaving a dog is how the dog reacts when you take them back for the next stay .. you might be left feeling a bit rejected!!”
“Waggy Tails kennels are a godsend for us. We have an elderly collie with arthritis and she loves Rachel to bits. The most amazing thing about the kennels is that our dog is recognised and greeted with affection even if she hasn’t been seen for well over a year! Now that is service and attention to detail – it shows how much the staff at Waggy Tails enjoy their work.”
“I have no worries about leaving our dog Eddie at Waggy Tails. He always receives a high level of care and gets plenty of exercise and attention. The kennels are clean and spacious and nothing seems to be too much trouble for the owners. He is always very happy there and comes home smelling better than we left him!”
Our collie Robbie had only just come out of plaster after breaking his leg when he came to stay at Waggy Tails kennels for 10 days. He needed particular care because of this, and we were very pleased when we collected him to find he had been well cared for, was very happy and well. We subsequently have booked him in for another stay. Thank you Waggy Tails.
